Hitachi seaside park- Japan

Last year in November I had an incredible 2 week holiday in Japan. It was my first time over there and I decided for a solo trip for my 1st time to soak up the experiences.

There was a park I had heard of before, called Hitachi. The park is situated near the Pacific Ocean side of the Japanese coast. It seemed so surreal with the photos people were posting from around the world and I wanted to confirm that this place was as magical in real life.

The place was so beautiful! There were these seasonal plants that grew everywhere called Kokoci among the other interesting varieties. They are seasonal and come out during Autumn time.

This series was taken on my day trip to the park :)

It rained all day and we didn't mind :)

It was wet and windy. That didn't stop Deb, Tim (aka my awesome Flatmates who are about to get hitched) and I going on an awesome roadtrip last week along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia and boy was it worth it!

Deb and Tim gave me the freedom to shoot their engagement photos how I liked. Which was great :) We researched a few nice spots in Lorne and The Cumberland River which would be ideal.

We left around 11am with high hopes of a nice sunny day, this was not the case though and it rained all day.

There's one thing I've learnt over the years when shooting outdoors is always be prepared. Of course I forgot to pack my rain sleeve so I had to duck into the local IGA to grab a few plastic bags to cover my 2 cameras.

I ended up bringing a light photography kit consisting of my little Fujifilm XT-10 and 35mm f1.4 lens, my Canon 5d mark 3 and 2 sigma art lenses. The 35mm and 50mm. All were packed into my ThinkTank Streetwalker backpack (which held up very well under the elements)

We couldn't have had a better time hanging out and shooting. Yes we all got a bit wet, but it added to the atmosphere and fun!

Also if your ever in Lorne, do yourself a favour and check out "The Bottle of Milk Cafe" We had "The Cold shower Burger" which tasted amazeballs. The burger had runny egg, Avocado, Bacon, hash brown, tomato, cos lettuce, mayo and homemade tomato relish. Oh did I mention they have Stone and Wood beer on tap too!

Here's a few Favourite photos from our session in Lorne and The Cumberland River.
